In addition to these amazing upcoming events, also be sure to check out our new TikTok account (that's right: we're on TikTok now!) featuring some leadership tips direct from me. It’s a skill you develop as you get to understand yourself and learn from the experiences of others."Īs we prepare to journey to Houston for AFP LEAD 2022 (October 20-22), followed by the opening of registration of AFP ICON 2023 (hint: coming soon) and then the AFP IDEA: Emerging Leaders Virtual Workshop, remember that AFP is here to help you develop that skillset. Leadership isn’t something you’re born with. There are always new skills and knowledge about leadership that we can bring to our organizations, which is especially important in this challenging time. THAT is leadership!īut there’s always more we can learn about leadership. We bring communities together to change the world because we are the IMPACT profession. We work with teams of staff and volunteers to ensure we deliver programs and services. We connect people to causes and inspire them to take action. In addition, I think fundraising is inherently connected to leadership. It is our commitment to ethics, the dedication to best practices, the connections we create, the way we treat others, and the impact of our work-to name just a few-that are the hallmarks of leadership. We can demonstrate leadership and make a difference to our organizations, our communities and the people we serve.īecause it’s not our titles that make us leaders-it’s what we do every day that demonstrates leadership. We may not all be presidents, vice presidents or directors, or even have the word “leader” in our title. While I think there are some general principles for good leadership, I want to emphasize that we are ALL leaders, and we all have different leadership styles. Can there truly be just one set of qualities that can describe good leadership? What does it mean to be a “strong” and “capable” leader? Is strength always a sign of an effective leader? There are so many ways to be a great leader, and so many opportunities for us to lead. "The combination of challenges we’ve had to navigate, the people we’ve needed to reassure and inspire, the vision and resilience that has been required to stick to goals and principles-all of these have required strong, capable leadership.Īnd yet, even as I write these words, I have to check myself. Today-in the wake of Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, with conflict overseas and instability in our markets both at home and abroad, and so much going on in all of our lives-I'm going to revisit some words that I wrote in 2020, which just go to show that the urgent need for leadership is truly ever-present. If there’s ever been a year that we needed leadership, it’s 2020. Abilities from this tree scale with Intelligence and Willpower. Sadly, the HDMI Sync Box doesn’t include a physical remote. The Sync Box’s power brick smartly comes with two extra power outputs so you connect the Gradient Light Strip and another Hue light without taking up additional power points. I was able to easily pair this up with the HDMI Sync Box to complete the look. I already had a regular Hue Colour Lightstrip plastered behind an entertainment unit located directly below the wall-mounted TV. Installation is a breeze with the included plastic brackets that stick onto the back of your TV, enabling the Gradient Lightstrip to be piped along the top and sides.ĭisappointingly, the Gradient Lightstrip won’t cover the bottom side of the TV so you’ll want to augment it with another Hue light to avoid having a large dark void below the TV. The Gradient Lightstrip is much thicker than a regular Hue Colour Lightstrip outputting a whopping 1100 lumens. I tested out the 55-inch Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip which also comes in 65 and 75-inch variants to match the size of your television. You won’t find any lights included in the box and at the bare minimum you will need either a ‘Hue Play Gradient Light strip’ or a pair of ‘Hue Play Light Bars’. You’ll want to make sure you have an unobstructed flat white wall behind the television for it to work effectively, so it’s not an ideal option for televisions located in a corner position, for example. The HDMI Sync Box essentially maps portions of the image on screen to different lights, so you need a spread of lights around the rear of the screen, as well as ideally elsewhere in your home theatre to get the full surround lighting effect. The Sync Box does an impressive job of matching Hue lights with the action onscreen that never fails to pull you in For this reason, streaming apps built into the TV won’t work with the Light Sync effect. The content passing through the Sync Box is rapidly analysed and seamlessly translated to flashes of colour on any connected Hue light. On the surface, the HDMI Sync Box looks like a fancy HDMI splitter consisting of four HDMI inputs for connecting source devices like a streaming box, blu-ray player and a games console as well as a single HDMI out for connecting to your TV. You’re also going to need to invest in either a set of Hue Play Light Bars or a Gradient Light strip to slap on to the back of your TV, in addition to a Hue Bridge (if you don’t already own one) for all this to work. It all adds up to a steep price, so is it worth the investment? Installation This impressively matches on-screen content with your Hue lights. Sonos Playbar Optical-TV-HDMI ARC-Hue Sync Box-PS4+WiiU and FireStick4k connected to Box.We’ve all heard of surround sound, but what about surround lighting? Philips is looking to take the TV viewing experience to the next level with the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box. I know not everyone here messes with Hue but not getting a lot of help from other communities so I thought I would try here. Not sure if I am missing something as I am not familiar with how all of this works. Just seems odd that this Mode doesn’t operate like some of the 3rd Party Hue Sync apps which use a speaker on a device to mix the lights to the music. I am curious if it is because of how the Sonos system and the HDMI box communicate. The lights pulse, flash etc regardless if any music is playing but they do not really change colors or with the beat. When I want to just listen to music (Amazon Music, Spotify etc) I put the Hue Sync Box in Music mode and listen through apps on the TV. Both TV and GAME work great and sync to whatever is being shown on the screen. Within the Hue Sync App there are 3 modes: TV, MUSIC,GAME. I was wondering if anyone else has tried the new Hue HDMI Sync Box with their Playbar 5.1 setup. Thunderbird was built against something that the Mozilla foundation used to tout as the future of building software in general: XUL. the way Thunderbird is designed was that it was a kind-of-fork of Firefox, and too many resources were being wasted just keeping the "fork" up to date from changes to internal Firefox APIs. This will ensure that the stars will be less and less in focus as they rise and appear to fall like rain in the final composite. Making your exposures Frame your shot looking eastįirst things first, let’s frame up our foreground with a generous amount of sky. Since we will be periodically defocusing our camera’s lens between each shot, we want the stars to “rise” in the sky as we make our exposures. I’m sure there are other options but either of these programs will work perfectly. You can also pick up a free trial of Adobe Photoshop here. Download the GIMP from the official site here. I used Adobe Photoshop CS6 but you can also use the free and open source program called the GIMP. You will need some sort of software to combine multiple images in layers. For this particular image, I settled on 60 second photographs with 2 second intervals between each photograph. Intervalometer (Optional)Īn intervalometer or remote timer will allow you to setup a predictable time lapse sequence of photographs and will allow you to take exposures longer than 30 seconds. If you don’t have a strobe, you can also use a simple flashlight to “paint” the foreground with light. For this particular image, I used a strobe to the right of the frame to light up Diana and the foreground. Strobe or Flashlight (Optional)Ī strobe or flashlight is not explicitly necessary but it’s nice if you want to fill in detail in your foreground rather than having a silhouette. We will be taking about 10 to 20 exposures consecutively and we’ll need the tripod to be in the exact same location from shot to shot. You will want to be careful to not bump your camera or tripod while working. Pretty much any stable tripod will work for this shot. For this image I used a Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i) Digital SLR. You will need a camera that can at least support manual focus and manual exposure capability. The image above uses Andy Chatman’s defocused star trails method to create the comet like effect. If you are a little bit patient, you can get spectacular results. The execution is a little bit time consuming but it’s extremely easy. This is cool because it can help us identify what kind of stars we are seeing from blue supergiants to red dwarfs. Andy shows us a very simple method to capture the color temperature of stars by using defocused star trails. The idea for this image is based off of something I learned from a tutorial by Andy Chatman: Photographing the Color of Stars. I haven’t made a star trail image in a while because I’ve been lately concentrating on capturing the Milky Way. Shainblum's photography prowess has been recognized far and wide, so it is exciting to see it brought to life as a video in such a unique and creative way. I enjoyed the music and the way it synced very well with the segments. This includes cars, hikers, climbers, and satellites. The progression of the scenes is full of interesting changes that by themselves might downgrade a single frame, but work wonderfully in sequence. Shainblum manages to animate each star from their starting point in a visually impressive fashion. Making star trails photos is a popular technique for those into astrophotography. In the video, titled "Drifting Through The Night," Michael Shainblum creates a beautifully blended time-lapse featuring both short and long exposure photos in a way that creates organic-looking motion. How to Recover Data from FAT16/FAT32/exFAT Hard Drive:ĭeleting a file in the FAT file system simply means removing it from the FAT table. This is why you’ll find that some cameras split long recordings into 4GB chunks to ensure they’re written. However, one drawback it has against other file systems is that it can only store files up to 4GB. The FAT32 file system is commonly used on flash drives due to its support for multiple operating systems. FAT32 supports volume sizes up to 16 TB.FAT16 supports volume sizes up to 4 GB.FAT12 supports volume sizes up to 32 MB.Here are the volume sizes for each version: As FAT developed, the supported volume sizes increased. The FAT32 file system has maximum file size of 4G limitation, which is due to the length of the entry in the directory table. Sub-directories are treated in a similar manner. Using it, the operating system can build a cluster chain until it reaches the end-of-file marker. In the case of the root directory, the FAT table contains the number of the first cluster of each file in that directory. Reserved are special clusters used by the operating system.ĭirectories are described in the same table. Otherwise, it differentiates between unused and reserved clusters. For used clusters, each entry contains the number of the next cluster, or an end-of-file marker. The FAT table contains entries for each cluster. The FAT system divides the storage space into clusters. The main element of this file system is the File Allocation Table (FAT), which is allocated at formatting time. Usually, Microsoft doesn’t differentiate between the older versions, and refers to them as FAT. Originally, using 8 bits per entry, it has evolved into versions FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32, each using 12, 16 and 32 bits respectively. Microsoft promoted it through its DOS and Windows operating systems. This file system has been around since the 1980s.
